Campbell Gaining Confidence

Posted Monday, September 22, 2014 by Brandon Overdorff
The Red Dragons defeated St. Joseph's on Friday 33-27. In the first quarter, Freshman Shamar Campbell was all over the field, intercepting 2 passes and taking both back for 20 plus yard returns. He also took a screen pass on offense 28 yards, and made some big tackles out of his safety position. Shamar added multiple key pass breakups and tackles throughout the rest of the game. However, it was his punting that may have helped secure the victory. Having to step in at punter week 1 with last years area leading punter Royce Bish down with injury, Shamar stepped up big with two huge punts in the fourth quarter that changed field position in the Dragons favor. While there is much work to be done, Shamar flashed his God given potential often Friday night and seemingly played with new confidence. For his all around play, Shamar Campbell is this week's Player of the Week. Keep working to get better.
